Acceptance (2015) Officially Released!

Hello again!

I am proud to announce that Acceptance, a short that I scored for Shoot the Moon Films for the 2015 Boston 48-Hour Film Challenge has officially been released on YouTube!

The film follows a group of friends who are on the brink of mourning their terminally ill friend Jack and struggling to accept things in life beyond their control, including the fact that their old friend Shawn has now transitioned into a woman named Sharon.

This one was a challenge to score in such a short period, because I had to try and capture the different emotional layers of the film, with the whole score being written in about 5-6 hours. I decided to stick with solo piano for the most part, keeping it simple and understated to accent the drama without going overboard.

You can find the film under the videos tab at the top of the page, as well as embedded in this post. Let me know what you think, I hope you enjoy it!

Adaptive music systems using Wwise

Hello there!

If you've heard any of my Crysis 3 re-score tracks, you'll might notice in the track description that I originally implemented it using Wwise, which is a piece of audio middleware software for video games. It can be used in a variety of ways to create interactive and adaptive game scores in a way that is much easier to understand than learning how to code it all yourself!

In the video below you'll find a short demo of what I did in Wwise to create an interactive score that adapts to the player's actions. Keep an eye out for a tutorial video where I will go through the process of recreating the project step-by-step and introduce some features of Wwise along the way.

Happy holidays,

Garett Schmidt
